Rainbow Trail Day Camp 2019

Dear Friends and Family of Cross of Hope Church and Schools,

This summer our church and schools are planning an exciting opportunity for Christian growth that the child(ren) in your life will want to share in. It’s an awesome Day Camp experience for those ages 3 through grade 5.

The Day Camp will be held June 10-14, 2019. We will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 2:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday for K-5th grade. (Pre-K ends at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday and at noon on Friday.) The week concludes on Friday at noon for all with a special program and light refreshments.

Day Camp provides a unique experience that helps children grow in their faith. Our Day Camp is being offered as a partnership between our church and schools with Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp. Trained Rainbow Trail camp counselors will join with adults and youth from our church community who want to see your children’s faith grow. The week will include music, creative worship, arts and crafts, games, and of course, Bible study.

Again, this year we will have our day camp serve as a true ministry by having no registration fee, however if you are at all able to help by contributing time, supplies or a monetary donation to this event we would greatly appreciate it. (Camp costs are about $35 per child). With your registration packet you will find a parent volunteer form that lists a few needs we have and as we near the camp itself there will be a Sign Up Genius list that will circulate so that you can check with needs throughout the week of camp.

Registration begins Sunday, April 28, 2019 at which time forms are available at the Rainbow Trail Day Camp table in the Great Hall, in the Preschool Office, and online at crossofhope.org on April 30.  Kindergarten-5th grade will cap at 120 children, Preschool will cap at 16 children. So turn in your registrations ASAP.  Any questions, call the office, 897-0047.

In early June, a reminder letter or email will be sent to you with additional information regarding Day Camp.

 With Great Excitement and Joy,

 Richard Hielkema,

Day Camp Director

Rainbow Trail Lutheran Day Camp @ Cross of Hope
Jun 10 @ 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
Cross of Hope partners with Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp to offer a day camp (similar to a VBS program). Kids ages 3 through fifth grade are invited to share in this memorable and fun experience. (Note: preschool age youth dismiss at 11:30 daily.) Older youth are welcome to act as junior counselors and volunteer alongside Rainbow Trail camp counselors. The general camp schedule includes:
  • Sondance – Each day begins with an interactive time to introduce the daily theme through use of scripture, song, drama, puppets, etc.
  • Bible Study – The Bible Study and week’s theme will unfold in small groups.  Bible stories and experiential learning activities are stressed.
  • Music – Music is a fun, daily part of camp sessions.
  • Recreation – Fun, non-competitive, outdoor games appropriate to each age group.
  • Arts and Crafts – The campers make something each day that ties in with the daily theme and provides them an opportunity to bring Day Camp home to their family.  Arts and crafts are generally “from scratch,” and lots of fun for the kids.
  • Devotions/Rest – This is a quiet time to review what was learned during the day.  Counselors may use picture drawing, journal writing, or stories to help in this time for reflection.
  • Lunch – Each day children bring a sack lunch for the noon meal.
  • Special Activities – Fun activities such as a talent show and water day add to the week’s excitement.
  • Closing – This is a wrap up of the day filled with more singing and fun.  It’s a great way to review the theme of the day and send kids home excited about what they’ve learned.
