Fiesta de la Esperanza

Once a year, usually in the late winter (late February or early March), the community at Cross of Hope gathers for Fiesta De La Esperanza. Roughly translated from Spanish, it is “Festival of Hope.”

All members of Cross of Hope are expected by Pastor Dale to attend this great evening. On a Saturday or Sunday evening, every follower of Christ at Cross of Hope gathers for a great dinner (and it’s free), conversation, and commitment. The President of the Congregation Council speaks about the vision and direction of the congregation for the year. A special speaker helps us understand the very nature of stewardship. Then we fill out our tithe cards and the “Every-Member Sharing of Spiritual Gifts”.

Each Fiesta has a theme. Over the years, themes have included “sports,” “summer camp,” and “Mexican Fiesta.” Entertainment is provided, from dance bands to choir performances.

For those who could not attend Fiesta, a Sunday is set-aside for a visit by a team of two “Cross of Hopers.” They answer questions and carry commitment cards back to the Stewardship Director.

All the commitment cards are gathered by the Stewardship Director and tabulated. A total number is given to the Congregation Council and is applied to the budgeting process (our budget year runs from July 1 to June 30). The Spiritual Gifts Coordinator, who then notifies the Ministry Directors of your gifts.

Fiesta is a great time to gather as God’s people and tithe to the ministry to which God has called Cross of Hope. See you there.
