Hello Families!

          This February brings us an exciting and blessed month.

          This month we will be studying lots of fun things. In math, we are finishing up with 2-digit multiplication. We will also be starting division. The children are very excited for this! Another thing that we will start is bar modeling for multiplication and division.

          In literacy, reading groups are going well. For our shared reading, we will be reading “Centerfield Ballhawk” and “Ramona Forever.” We will be learning about pronouns, compound words, sequencing, summarizing, drawing conclusions, making connections, visualizing, and we will be continuing to work on prefixes and suffixes. In writing, we will begin working on creative writing.

          In science, we will continue our Healthy Science unit in which we will be learning about food processing, packaging, and the nutrients our bodies need. We will also be starting our Space unit, which explores the Solar System. In social studies, we will be continuing to learn about communities. We will be focusing immigrants, culture, and celebrations. In Christian studies, we are learning about God’s gracious gifts and why God is so important in our lives.

          This month our project will be on a notable African-American, past or present. More details will be going home about this next week.
