2nd Grade Homework

March Homework Project

Student's Choice!
This is our last monthly project of the year!  In order to celebrate how far we've come, students get to choose what they do for their project.  They may want to research a topic they are especially interested in.  They may want to share a special project they have been working on at home.  They may want to write and perform a play with a friend.  The sky is the limit!  As always of course their needs to be a written component as well as a visual component.  It should be 2-3 minutes long.  Presentations will be the first Thursday in April (April 4th) at 8:15 and 3:15.

February Monthly Project- Make the World a Better Place

This month the assignment is to find a way to make the world a better place.  Children should come up with a special service project which is outside of their normal activities and expectations, implement the project and then report back to the class.  The presentation should include what the project was, how they came up with the idea, how it went and the impact of the project on others. I’ve found the Zoom website (www.pbs.org/parents/zoom/action/) to be an excellent resource for great ideas.  I’m not looking for a cure for cancer but rather for the children to consider what they really care about and find a way to do something to help out- The simpler the better.  I’d like them to view service as a way of life.  Presentations will be the first March 21st. We will present either first thing in the morning or the last half hour of the day.  Please let me know if you are planning to come and have a preference for times.  Otherwise, we will present that day as convenient.  Also don’t forget to let me know in advance if you will need any special accommodations.

Homework Helping Link for Literacy

Here is a great link to a website that goes along with our Harcourt Trophies Literacy curriculum  http://www.vrml.k12.la.us/2nd/

Homework/read/2_home_read.htm.  It will support spelling, vocabulary, reading and grammar activities we do in class plus it's really fun!  The kids requested I include this as they love using it in class!
