This is a narrative reflection arranged by Pastor Nico, using only quotes from the various essays of the students who recently made their First Communion.
“I love Jesus. I was hesitant to take the class, because I had first communion already at a different church. But then I thought it is also about community and togetherness–sharing this meal. Before my first Holy Communion we were all at home and I thought no big deal, but when I got to church I started to get nervous. When we went to the circle, I was starting to sweat the closer and closer they got to me. I thought how Jesus made water into wine. This is his body, this is his blood. When I was getting first Communion I was saying the Lord’s Prayer in my head. We do this to remember God. I felt like I was getting closer to God. I thought Holy Communion was great. After Communion I felt older and I felt like I was an adult in the church. I was thinking about God on the ride home. We celebrated by getting ice cream cones. I went to communion that Saturday and Sunday, too. I like communion.”
