COHLES Welcomes New Teaching Staff

From the school's beginning, one of our greatest strengths is our commitment to excellence in teaching that glorifies God through all we do. We welcome the following individuals to COHLES:

1st Grade Teacher, Jill Philby
My name is Jill Philby. I am proud and excited to be teaching first grade at Cross of Hope Lutheran Elementary School during the 2008-2009 school year. I have been a part of the school since before it existed. I served on the school board for four years, during which time I helped develop and order curriculum, among many other duties.

I have been a public school teacher for eleven years, both in Iowa and in Albuquerque. I love teaching first grade, because my favorite part of teaching is teaching children to read!! I am so excited to finally have the opportunity to teach at Cross of Hope, where the school is so near and dear to my heart, and so obviously a part of God’s plan. The fact that God has called me to teach here will give me the chance to join Him in His work, work with some wonderful people, and include my faith in my teaching. (Yippee! The true meaning of Christmas and Easter!) What a blessing it will be to be a part of God’s wonderful school in a place that is already home to me!

4th/5th Grade Teacher, Laurie Adams
My name is Laurie Adams. I have been attending Cross of Hope since 1995. I have a Master's Degree in education from UNM. I am looking forward to the opportunity to educate students in all academic areas as well as nurture their spiritual growth. I am excited to be teaching in a setting where I can let Jesus' light shine through my teaching! I enjoy spending time with my husband and two young daughters.
